Jonatha took a breath as the stone flashed. She grimaced a bit when the wish was fulfilled.
“I hate to say it, but...it’s Kieran Black, and yes, you’re pregnant.”
Jade put the phone down in disgust and fear. A stupid wish to knock someone down a peg had instead caused her to be knocked up even worse.
“What have I done?” Jade sighed, starting to cry.
“Oh, Jade…” Jonatha didn’t know what to say. She had never been in this situation before. She had heard stories about it happening to other bois, but she never thought that it would happen to her or one of her friends. And to think... It was all because of an errant wish.
“Kieran’s going to freak out when he finds out about this.”
“Maybe he already knows?” Jonatha offered. “You did say that you and Ash hooked up a few weeks ago. Maybe you found out earlier and have already told him.”
“Maybe,” Jade sniffed. “I have to go… I promised Daddie that I’d help her cook dinner tonight.”
“Ok, but you know that I’m here for you. Right?” Jonatha assured her friend.
“Uh-huh, and Jonatha? Thanks for the wish. At least now I know.”
“Sure thing. Love you,” Jonatha replied.
“Love you too,” Jade responded as she hung up. She tried to compose herself before she headed back down to her father. What was she going to say to her? This was exactly the kind of thing that she had warned her about when she started going out with Ash.
