Zoe just stared at the closed front door of the house. Did that girl mean Tina Shepard? That white Baptist girl? Normally, Zoe didn't want anything to do with Tina or any of her friends ... but this wasn't a normal situation, and felt that maybe she should help her. Besides, she might be able to tell Zoe was what was going on with her own friends.
She hid nearby, trying to figure out how she'd reach the girl. Finally, with a change of clothes and a bookbag, the adult Zelda escorted the girl back to the car. Zoe followed on foot.
