And yet all of these things are true in college as well. We all have people we are forced to deal with in life, coworkers, classmates, roommates, parents, lovers, landlords....high school isn't an excuse for having to deal with someone, it's just an example.
College kids can be just as immature and silly as anybody, in fact more so when you add in the additional freedom of being on your own for the first time. Also that freedom usually brings on a sort of finding one's self sexually.
But College kids can be mature too, which is something that a 15 year old is less likely to be. In fact i would argue that one of the problems with the high school method is too often characters are acting too grown up for their age, sex isn't something that most kids dive into willy nily but in college that is much more likely.
If it's done right College offers more and new opportunities. I think we've only been dealing with high school and not fully diving into college because the root story is a high school one, so we always have to come back to that, the world has been set up as a high school world, but now we have a chance to graduate to something better and set a new precedent for the story.
