"Maybe you should just undo it."
"But I can't!" replied Jon. "Wishes can't be reversed."
"But you don't need to reverse it. Look, if the wish really made Mike your girlfriend, then he already is, right? It's not like there's some kind of list of things you have to do before becoming a girlfriend--if going out with you makes him your girlfriend, then he's really already your girlfriend."
"Hmm. Okay, I wish that Mike is my girlfriend now, but will stop being my girlfriend in a minute from the end of this wish, and will go home and forget being here and forget I have any magic."
Someone knocked on the front door, and Jon and Karyn went downstairs to check on it. It was Mike, but all of a sudden he vanished... and of course it had been a minute from the end of the wish.
"There we go!" said Jon. "I wonder if I should change him back. I could make him only be that way for a little while, just like he was only my girlfriend for a little while..."
"... but he usually treats you badly," said Karyn. "And you want to see if leaving him like that may change how he acts. I can guess what you're thinking."
Meanwhile, back at Mike's house, he and Danny Bryson...
