Kyla wasn't sure if she was relieved or not when she and Nadine finally made it to the high school. Yes, the school itself was exactly the way she remembered it ... but the students? At least half of them were different. She saw Sabrina Johnson, normally a Goth punk girl who was actually quite a lot like the current Nadine, though a bit more extreme ... but now, she looked the way Nadine used to look. She was even carrying around a Bible with her! And then there was Biff Meadows, probably the most popular boy, but known to be a notorious bully ... now, he looked like a dorky nerd. Without his muscles, Kyla almost didn't recognize him.
"I suppose he's your best friend in your universe," Nadine said, gesturing towards Biff.
"What? No way. That guy used to be a total jerk. This version ... he doesn't look very intimidating."
Yelling caught their attention. "Well, I'm sure he's not any different," Nadine said, pointing towards a muscular jock pushing a nerdy kid down on the ground. "Jay is one of the biggest assholes in school."
"Jay ... Duncan?" Kyla asked, her eyes wide.
"Yeah? What? Are you saying that he's not normally like that in your universe?" Nadine asked, surprised.
"No," she said, quietly. "He's like me, actually."

Goth girl Stephanie Wright walked up to her friend. "Sabrina? What are you wearing? What happened to your hair? Is that a ... Bible?" Normally Sabrina had pink-dyed hair.
Sabrina turned and made a disgusted expression at Stephanie. "This truly is a nightmare world," she said.
"What?"
"You've been corrupted by the devil," Sabrina said. "But you need not worry. If you let him, God will save you."
"What are you talking about?"
Stephanie had seen people that morning that were behaving and dressing oddly, and had even tried calling Sabrina to tell her about it, but wasn't able contact her. She had to come to school to find her in person. But she had no idea that her friend would be one of the oddly-behaving people. And she certainly wasn't prepared to see her Goth punk friend as a Bible-thumper!
