Jon woke up, eventually, to raw darkness.
Strange, usually he wouldn't wake up until it was light out, at least. Perhaps he had to go pee? No, his bladder wasn't sending him any signals.
Funny, he couldn't move. That wasn't unusual, often he would wake up mentally to find his body still paralyzed from sleep. He knew he shouldn't have eaten anchovies the night before, but they were his favorite food when he needed to settle his stomach, and with the stress of the stone he had plenty of stress to settle. Besides, how could he turn down anchovy pizza? And now his body was paralyzed in waking just like it WASN'T paralyzed in sleep. Annoying, but it would wear off in a while, just like it always did.
He heard a noise. It wasn't that far away, and he wondered if that was what had woken him up, a noise. 'Great, someone's breaking in in the middle of the night, and I can't move to even find them, let alone stop them. May as well lay low.'
The noises kept coming, and a few times he heard a voice, kind of femenine... and familiar, actually. 'It's coming closer!'
