As it turned out, it was the bedroom belonging to Melony Tyne, a cute "girl next door" type of girl who went to school with Jon and Karyn.
Zoe walked straight to the black girl's closet and pulled out an outfit she wouldn't be caught dead in, which consisted of a tight powder blue T-shirt, blue jeans, and a pair of sandals. As she donned the new clothing, Melony woke up and got out of bed, apparently in some sort of trance, then left the bedroom, and then her house, in only her underwear.
When she placed a heart-shaped pendant necklace around her pale neck, Zoe finally snapped out of it. She looked around, confused as to where she was. Then she looked down at herself. "What the fuck?" she said aloud, seeing what she was wearing. Ugh, it was just so plain, yet girly, and definitely not gothic in the slightest. She momentarily thought about taking the clothing off, but then she'd be naked. And if she wanted to get out of here, wherever here was, she wouldn't want to be naked, right?
"Melony? Is that you?" came the voice of a woman.
"Shit," Zoe said, cringing. She had to get out of there right now. So she did the only thing that came to mind - she went out the window, even though she was on the second floor. There was enough first-floor roof outside the window to stand on, but how the fuck was she going to get down to the ground? She looked this way and that, seeing that there was a fairly large tree nearby. Tall enough and close enough that she could use it as a way to climb down. And that's exactly what she was doing a moment later. Once on the ground, she looked around and realized that she was still on her street, so her house wasn't too far away. What name had that woman said? Melony? The only Melony she knew was this goody-goody black girl that was in the same grade as her brother Jon. She remembered her babysitting Mikey on occasion. Was that her house that Zoe was in? Shaking her head, she decided to ponder on this later, after she got back home and got a change of clothing. She hurried, not wanting anyone to see her wearing this, not realizing that her clothing back home was already slowly changing into something a little bit like it.
