Jon's door opened, revealing another Billy Joel. This one looked slightly different than Zoe had. Just enough to know that she... he?... was a different person. He studied Karyn's face, body, all her features while she just stood in the doorway, waiting.
"C'mon, you act like you've never seen me before," Karyn laughed. Then her expression suddenly turned serious. "You didn't make a wish, did you?"
"I, uh..." There was something bugging Jon.
"Jon, what did you wish for?"
"I wished..." He kept examining Karyn's form.
"Yes?"
Lightbulb. "Karyn, you don't have blonde hair or big boobs!"
"Of course I don't. I'm not Christie Brinkley."
"But your wish. You made a wish for hair and boobs like Sarah McMillan. And now that she's Billy Joel, she doesn't have boobs, and her hair is short, dark, and curly. So you got out of your wish!"
"Jon, what are you talking about?"
But Jon wasn't listening. He was grabbing for the stone.
"I wish Billy Joel was a wide assortment of teenage girls that mirrors how I remember the female population of my school to be." The world might lose a Piano Man, but it was better than the alternative.
Or it would have been. Nothing happened. Karyn still stood before him, a duplicate of Billy Joel. Was she still even female?
"Look, if you're gonna be weird I'll just go. Maybe I should take that stone with me."
"No, Karyn, you don't understand. I accidentally wished all the girls at school were Billy Joel, and it's freaking me out, and I need to fix it."
"Whatever. I'm out, this is getting dumb."
Karyn turned around and went down the stairs. She passed Zoe on the way.
"Are you going to be at the concert tonight?" Karyn asked.
"Of course," Zoe replied. "I never miss performing a Madison Square Garden gig."
Jon poked his head out the door, hearing the exchange from his room. "Wait, you're both performing at Madison Square Garden tonight?"
He was greeted by two incredulous stares. "Jon." Zoe put her hand to her forehead, "my brother. All the girls are performing at Madison Square Garden tonight."
"In New York!?"
"No, not in New York, in the one that the city built downtown. New York is like a thousand miles away."
A thousand miles away... "That's why the wish didn't work!" Jon retreated back to his room, slamming the door behind him.
"Your brother's weird," Karyn said as she made her way out the front door.
Meanwhile in his room, Jon was figuring out how to get to New York City, and how to make sure the original Billy Joel was in range of the stone.
