Shazan walked with me down several bustling roads. It was a strange experience for me. I knew it should be awkward, and it was, but for some reason, I couldn't bring myself to tell him to back off and end the rather intimate grip on me.
Then, Shazan stopped on the last block. "That close enough, m'dear?"
I was both relieved and dissappointed. I seriously hoped this character wasn't effecting my mind some how.
"I-I suppose so.", I replied, trying to keep my voice level.
"Alrighty then. But before yer off m'dear, I'd like to show ya somethin'." He held out his hand, inside it was a small stone, giving off a slight but noticeable yellow glow.
"What is it?", I asked him in a hushed voice. If it was possible, despite my predicament I had just become even more impressed with this game. I was almost certain I'd seen my first magic item.
"'Tis a way stone. Where ever ya need ter go, it'll find a way ter get ya there. Quick as ya like." He explained, confirming my suspicions.
"So it teleports the user?"
"Smart lass." Shazan bowed in deference to my apparently above average perceptiveness. "For you." He said, holding out his hand.
"You're really giving me this for free?" I couldn't help but be a bit skeptical.
"O'course. A lovely lady like yerself need ne'er ask. Besides, I can make these fast and cheap, but fer some one new in the city, they're much harder ter come o'cross."
"Thank you." I was both enthusiastic and apprehensive, but I really couldn't turn an offer like that down. Something like that would have to be handy in the future. And besides, at least now I had some good news for Suzie when we met up.
"Say nothin' of it. But...there is one price." He said menacingly.
"What's that?"
"Ya'll have to put in a good word fer me with yer friend." He responded, winking.
"How do I use it?"
"All ya have ter do is rub it three times, and it will take ya ta where ya want ter go. And now, my dear Misty, I'm afraid I must be off." He bowed again and turned back the way we'd come as I called out to thank him again. I couldn't wait to show Suzie.
