Janice picked up the phone. "Doctor Kaufman's office," she said, in a cheery voice. "No...Doctor Kaufman is out this week. Doctor Nakahashi is covering for her." She flipped through a paper appointment book. "Yes, Mr. Brewer, tomorrow at 4PM. Thank you."
She put the phone down and turned back to the girl sitting next to her. "I think I'm getting the hang of things here."
Christine Wallace nodded. "It isn't that hard," she said. "Doctor Kaufman said the hospital referred you?"
"Well, we just moved here, and my daughter had an attack of appendicitis, and I was at the hospital for a few days with her while she had her appendix out. I was talking to one of the administrators there, and happened to mention had just moved her and was looking for work. I suppose it worked out well," Janice said.
"Well, it will be good to have someone else on. Since Becky left, we've been short handed."
Janice nodded. "Well, I have to get going. I want to be home before Taylor gets home from school." She reached for her pocket book and headed toward the door.
