Jon was stuck in his room for several hours the next morning as Miss Fine had wanted a private session with his mother. There was little to do there but watch TV. Hospital TV was not know for being full cable. He seemed to only get a few programs.
The first channel was showing a retrospective of old music, songs by artists like Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Huey Lewis and the News. He zoned out to that for a while...a rather long while before his mother entered the room. He turned off the TV.
"Hi," he said.
"How are you feeling, dear?" She asked, moving to the bed next to him and putting an arm on his shoulder.
He felt comforted by the gesture. "Fine, I guess. A bit scared."
"Neither of us know what's going to happen exactly."
He frowned. The nurse had said something...he couldn't remember it clearly.
"No matter what happens," his mother told him, "I'll be here. I promise."
