The device looked simple. Goggles, earphones, a machine to run it. "Looks fine to me. Try it on," she said.
Zoe turned and was about to leave when the older woman stuck the device on her and flicked the switch. Zoe heard a whirring noise, and then...silence.
She took the device off. She didn't feel any different. But she didn't know how she was supposed to feel. She laid down on the bed, confused, wondering where everyone was.
