Among the mysterious intruder's catalog of alternate wishing stones were the Random Stone and the Omission Stone.
The Random Stone looked nearly the same as the regular wishing stone, but it wasn't. It was the Random Stone. And because of the small crack running through it, the wishes made with it wouldn't necessarily be granted to the wisher. The stone would pick out someone within 50 feet of the one who made the wish and grant it to him or her instead (as if they were the ones who made the wish). It was completely random as to whom the stone would pick. And as with the original stone, only the wisher and those who heard the wish made would notice the changes in reality.
The Omission Stone, meanwhile, looked very much like the regular wishing stone at first glance (with maybe a slight difference in color only noticeable to those looking closely enough). It worked just like the normal stone, but after every wish, someone who was considered "close" to the wisher (relationship-wise) would be erased from existence. Reality would change as if they never existed in the first place. Only the wisher would notice that the person is missing.
But these "omissions" weren't permanent. Once a person had been erased, someone could wish them back, but since that's another wish, another person would be erased from existence.
The stone the intruder placed (in place of the normal wishing stone) was a combination of the above stones: The Random Omission Stone.
The Random Omission Stone looked like the normal Omission Stone (not that Jon or Karyn would know, as they haven't seen the normal Omission Stone in this branch) except that it had a small crack running through it. As a result, the wishes wouldn't necessarily be granted to the wisher. The stone would pick out someone within 50 feet of the one who made the wish and grant it to him or her instead (as if they were the one who made the wish). It was completely random who the stone would pick, and only the wisher and those who heard the wish would notice the changes in reality.
Furthermore, after every wish, someone who was considered "close" to the person the Random Omission Stone randomly picked to grant the wish to would disappear from reality, with only the randomly-chosen someone noticing the absence of the missing person.
The mysterious intruder left the Random Omission Stone in place of the normal wishing stone, and left.
Jon would wake up not knowing that beside him on the table lay not the original wishing Stone, but the Random Omission Stone.
