Lisa had seen Sydney's mother before, at the yard sale, but this woman standing before her looked a little different. She was wearing a full-length black lace dress, a black corset, and fishnet gloves. The clothes looked a little small on her. Was she wearing her daughter's clothes?
Brenda smirked at her. "I knew you'd make it here."
"What? What do you mean? I came here by accident. I ... I was trying to go home." Lisa turned towards the street. "I think I'll be on my way now, so ..."
"But you are home," Brenda said.
Lisa stopped in mid-step and turned back around. "Excuse me?"
"We're both home now. Isn't that right, Sydney?"
"My name is Lisa. I'm not your daughter."
"Oh but you are. And so am I. You just don't realize it yet."
Lisa looked at the woman and noticed that she was wearing that ankh necklace around her neck. That was Sydney's necklace. She always wore it all the time. It was her favorite possession. Wait, how did Lisa know that? She was no longer being affected by the medallion. She shouldn't be having thoughts like that. Sydney was out of her life completely now, wasn't she?
She took a few steps back and then turned around and ran. She had to get out of there.
"Run all you want!" Brenda yelled. "But you'll know exactly who you are soon enough!" She began to laugh, then disappeared back into her house and closed the door behind her.
