After browsing the tables for a bit, Lisa found an intriguing piece of jewelry. Unlike the medallion, this piece was quite beautiful, although maybe a bit old. A strange shape hung at the bottom of the necklace. It looked like a cross with a loop. What she didn't know was that the shape was called an "ankh". She picked it up and put it on, trying it out. She looked down and frowned. She forgot to take off the medallion. But even with it still on, the new necklace didn't quite look like something she wanted, so she took it off and put it back on the table.
She browsed around some more, but couldn't find anything to her liking. She sighed, feeling like she wasted away her day. All she bought was this ugly old medallion.
Time to head home, I guess, she thought. And she did just that, not realizing that something was different.
Brenda Williams looked up from the payment table and nearly gasped. Was she seeing a ghost? Walking away from her yard sale and turning the corner onto another street out of view was a girl dressed in fashionable teenage clothes. Yet, she looked exactly like her daughter Sydney. But it couldn't be Sydney. She died three years ago. One of the reasons for this yard sale was to finally sell off some of her daughter's things. A lot of it she just couldn't part with. Sydney was her only daughter ... her only child. But regardless, she had to let go of the past. That's what her shrink told her. Speaking of her shrink, maybe it was a good idea to give him a call. Seeing her dead daughter probably wasn't a good sign.
