"I was--uh--" Hammer quickly glanced around the room. Something in a box by Paul's bed caught his eye. For a brief moment, pure shock replaced the innocent look Hammer had been trying to make with Sarah's face.
"You okay Sarah?" Paul moved closer. Uncomfortably close.
"I'm fine," 'Sarah' said, pushing him away gently. "I was actually, uh, looking for this." She reached into the box and pulled out the Medallion of Zulo, wrapped in a plastic bag.
"Oh, that thing? Yeah, I forgot to tell you we got all this junk back. The police were apparently pretty done with these things, so they asked me to pick 'em up last night." Paul squinted at the object a bit. "What is this thing, even? Cheap jewelry?"
"Just some, uh, sentimental thing. Grandma gave it to me. I think I accidentally packed it or something and it got lost last night when that-- that--" Hammer shuddered, acting the part of a scared girlfriend as best she could.
Paul moved in again, and Hammer let him, thinking it would be the most natural thing to do. "It's okay. You don't need to say it."
"Thanks," Hammer said, feeling revolted and strangely aroused by "her boyfriend" nuzzling her neck. Mumbling something about getting food, she managed to break away and return to Sarah's room.
