Casually-used, undetectable, magic items created by the stone have a tendency to be trouble magnets. In this case, the bottle of pills lasted nearly a month without causing any trouble.
Until Jon and Jonnie were getting ready to go to a party. Jon had visited Jonnie's room; Karyn had already left.
"Say, how about a pill before we go?" asked Jon. "It's been ages since I saw you in a skirt, dress, or anything like that."
"You knew when you first used the cloning machine that I wouldn't like wearing those, Jon," said the clone. "Think of it like going out with someone who hates it when you make bad jokes. You have to adapt--you stop making bad jokes. Just like you need to stop asking me to wear skirts. You--wait a minute."
"Hm?" said Jon.
Jonnie thought. "Maybe you're right. It goes both ways, doesn't it? We each need to adapt to what the other person wants. You'd think that if we're both the same person there's nothing we have to adapt to but it's not working out that way. So if you don't ask me too much, I won't object too much when you do ask." She grabbed the bottle and unscrewed the top. "Besides, if I was never going to do it I wouldn't have even needed this bottle. Okay, clothes pill...." She overturned the bottle above her right hand and shook the bottle so five pills fell out. Then she put them all back except the red one, and stuck it in her purse.
One quick wish later, Jonnie was decked out in a blouse and a purple skirt. "I feel embarrassed," she confessed. "Every time I do this I feel like someone's going to point at me and laugh at a guy wearing a skirt."
"That's silly," said Jon.
"I know. That isn't really going to happen since I'm a girl. And if I really got too bothered I could take a female self-image pill." She straightened the top of her blouse and said "Let's go!" Jonnie and Jon left the room, Jonnie locked it... leaving the bottle cap behind and taking the opened bottle in her purse. At this point, accidents were inevitable, and the first one was when....
