The bathroom door suddenly opened and Jonnie yelled. "Watch it, Karyn!" she exclaimed. "You should have knocked."
"You said you would lock the door, remember?" replied Karyn. Then she laughed. "What are you doing, Jonnie?"
"I'm just looking in the mirror," she replied. However, Jonnie's hands were in an awkward position down the front of her shirt and Jonnie's face was aimed down rather than towards the mirror.
"With your hands feeling up your breasts?" asked Karyn.
"I was just, er, figuring out something."
"You were feeling your breasts, Jonnie. Is there any point to that? I think you've figured out by now that breasts are not sex organs and the only way you're going to arouse yourself by doing that is through your own state of mind."
"Hey, I like my state of mind," replied Jonnie. "Besides, I really was figuring out something. You know I'm not a girl like you, not in my head except for the minimum necessary. Every time I need to do something girly, if I don't want to feel weird, I need to make a wish so that I don't feel weird. But making a lot of wishes for that is a bad idea. What if I make a mistake?" She picked up the stone off of the bathroom sink and said "I wish I had a bottle of magic pills like I'm thinking of."
On the sink, right where she had picked up the stone, appeared what appeared to be a large bottle of antacid tablets. It was transparent and showed its contents in multicolor, and also had dense writing on the back.
"Let me see that," said Karyn, picking the bottle up. "Hmm. Tasteless, dissolves in water. Pink makes you like wearing makeup, red makes you like women's clothes, orange makes you think of yourself as a girl, yellow makes you attracted to guys...."
"Yeah, and there's a different one for attracted to guys, and attracted only to guys. You can read the whole list if you want to. They wear off in 12 hours or if you are about to make a permanent wish that you wouldn't normally make."
"What?"
"It's a precaution. I made these to be convenient, not to screw myself over by making wishes while under the influence. We have something like that for normal alcohol too. Me and Jon have had the stone for six months now. We haven't messed up badly and we're not about to start now." Jonnie took the bottle from Karyn and put it in her pocketbook. Karyn thought about the pills, considering the possibilities for pranks, but realizing that messing with someone's mind and self-image could be taken as more than a prank....
