After about an hour, Kate found herself walking pretty high up in the lights over the rink. She should feel nervous, one slip would be instant death, but this body was perfect for this. She didn't even feel the slightest bit nervous as she darted along the beams.
She was pretty far away from Jon, but she kept the baby girl in her sight most of the time. She hadn't really moved, and Kate was sure she was asleep. It was going to be hours before either of them were going to be able to turn back.
It was about tht time that there was a pounding at the main door. She ran quickly to see who it was, surprised to see a couple of firemen standing outside. They pounded again, then again. Kate realized that the manager must have called them.
Finally, they broke open the door. "Fire department!" one of them yelled, "Jon, Kate? Are you there?"
Kate wasn't sure what to do. They clearly weren't looking for a baby and a cat!
The noise woke up Jon, who started to cry, which startled the two firemen. They entered into the lobby where they found Jon, laying on some clothes, crying and confused. "What the hell?" one of them asked, "Did these kids have a baby with them?"
The pair called for help, now worried, and in what seemed like no time Kate watched the place fill up with cops and firemen. Jon was wrapped up in a blanket and bundled off to the hospital. Kate almost panicked, but kept hiding up in the rafters. What was she going to do? As far as she knew, if Jon didn't touch the medallion again he'd be stuck as a baby girl. And if she didn't, she'd be stuck as a cat!
