Jon closed his fingers around something soft, what he was sure was a large mitten or the edge of a glove. He pulled it out and looked at it. He was a little horrified as he realized that it was a small purple hat, the kind that you'd see on a child no more than three months old.
"Wait a minute," he protested, "I'm not going to spend the next twelve hours as an infant!"
Kate chuckled, "Oh, yes you are!" he said. She was already slipping on the woven bracelet that she'd found. "I'm not sure what I'm going to be, looks like a preteen or something."
Reluctantly, Jon touched the hat to the medallion even as Kate did the same with the bracelet. Jon instantly felt his body start to get smaller, loosing inches faster than he'd have ever thought possible. He stared at his hands in amazement as his fingers got smaller and more pudgy.
"Jon, I think we have a problem," said Kate. Jon looked up to see that she was growing fur all over her body even as she was shrinking, faster than he was if that was possible.
Despite himself, Jon giggled in a voice that was sounding more like a baby every moment. "That must have been from the cat show a couple months ago!" he said, and giggled again. He fell to his knees as his legs got weaker. "You're going to be stuck that way for a while."
Kate didn't say anything to that, because she couldn't. She tried to form the words but only managed a plaintive "Meow!". She shrank into her clothes, and eventually fought her way out to reveal a very pretty Siamese cat.
The cat went over the Jon, who was now an infant barely in control of his body. She pulled the clothes off of him to reveal a tiny baby girl. She shook her head at that little discovery. It wasn't like Jon was likely to even realize it. He made a couple of half-hearted grabs at her, but the baby wasn't coordinated enough to do anything.
Kate covered Jon up with a couple of t-shirts and went about exploring as a cat.
