"It's confusing," said the Jon in Linda's body. But think of it this way. I wish I'd swap with my neighbor, who turned out to be Linda. Now, I heard the wish, so I kept my memory. Linda didn't hear the wish, so Linda thought she had always been in my body. That's why she thought she's me. You're really Linda in my body. You just think you're me because you think being me is reality."
"So then when we swap again, I'll just forget being myself?"
"You'll forget being 'Jon', because you really aren't."
"But as far as I'm concerned, Jon is who I am! I don't want to forget it!"
"Well, why don't you make a wish."
"Fine. I wish that we can't swap back at all."
"What?"
"It works fine," said Jon's body. "The condition for ending the wish is living my neighbor's life. It's easy to interpret that as living my neighbor's entire life until death. So we can never change back."
"But now I'm stuck in Linda's body!"
"There's two of us. If I'm Jon, you have to be Linda."
"How can you do this to me?"
"Because the only other choice is doing it to myself! Look, let me help you."
"How can you help me, 'Jon'?"
"Here's how. I wish that you accept being in Linda's body. I also wish you know anything you need to know to pretend you're Linda. Do you still want to change back?"
"Of course I don't. But I'm still me. I may be Linda now, but I don't think like Linda would."
