Drew closed his eyes and walked over to the skate rack. He tried to gauge where he was, not wanting to grab skates from the smallest end of the rack and end up as a child. When he thought he was in the right spot, he reached out and grabbed a pair.
When he opened his eyes, he saw he had undershot his goal by a bit. Drew wore size 11 skates, about average for a man his size. He had grabbed a pair of size 8 skates. Well, he thought, looks like I'm getting a bit younger.
Drew dropped the skates into the lost-and-found bin and picked it up. Kate came out of the skate racks with her selection, but Drew couldn't quite see them. He mentally shrugged and gestured to the locker rooms. Kate smiled and ran over towards the visiting woman's locker rooms.
"Hey!" Drew called as she walked inside. "Why are we going into the woman's room?"
"Because," Kate smiled. "We're the only ones here, so you don't have to worry about walking in on anyone. Plus, I get here first, so I get to choose where we change."
Drew sighed and decided not to fight it. "OK then, but next time we change, we're not changing in the woman's room!"
"OK!" Kate called from the locker room.
Drew took a deep breath and walked in. He dropped the box in the middle of the room and pulled the skates out. Suddenly, the medallion skidded out from under one of the other stalls. Drew jumped slightly, then remembered he had given it to Kate and had never taken it back. She must have already changed, Drew realized. He glanced down at the lost-and-found bin, wondering if he should put the skates down and try to find something less random in the box.
