Jon was still trying to figure out a plan when the phone downstairs rang. "Jane, it's for you. It's a boy."
He hurried down, not wanting to arouse suspicion. "Umm...hello."
"Hello, Jon. This is Jane."
He nearly dropped the phone. "What? How?"
"When I came to, I had your wishing stone. And I wished to know what was going on. So I know what it can do, and I know that you're stuck where you are and so am I, unless we can think of a way around the original wish. So I wished I had a phone that could call you in the past."
"What are we going to do?"
"Well, I've been hiding in your bedroom ever since it happened. But, my wish told me a few things. First, you and I are still connected. Second, even if you change the future, you can't eliminate me from existence and you always get the wishing stone to start this wish off. Third, your mom," she didn't feel comfortable calling her anything else, "won't be aware of any of this, something about preventing a paradox."
He paused. "So, what do we do?"
