Jonatha woke up the next morning feeling happier than he had felt in a long time. He hummed a tune as he took his shower, taking his time as he did so, much to the charging of his siblings. Then he got dressed.
As he got dressed, he decided that he wanted an outfit that reflected his mood, so he picked out a white halter top and a pink ruffle skirt. As he sat down at his vanity table, he tied his hair into a ponytail and then got to work on his makeup.
With the wish being made only a few days ago, a lot of this stuff was new to him, like putting on makeup, but the added wish of having the extra set of memories really helped Jonatha. He now knew how much eyeshadow to use and what color lipstick would go well with his skirt.
Once he was satisfied with the final result, he blew himself a kiss in the mirror and then bounced downstairs for breakfast. His upbeat mood did not go unnoticed by his family.
“Someone’s in a good mood today,” his mom, Lin, noted with a chuckle as she took a sip of her coffee.
Jonatha just smiled as he took his seat. He poured himself a bowl of muesli and a glass of orange juice.
“How was the date?” Lin asked.
“It was amazing!” Jonatha said, sighing dreamily as he recalled the events from last night. “Nicole sure knows how to treat a boy.”
Lin chuckled again. “I’m glad that you had a nice time.” She finished her breakfast and picked up the morning paper. “So what’s everyone’s plans for today?”
Jonatha paused. He had been so busy since the wish that he hadn’t realised that today was the first day that he didn’t have any plans. “I’m not sure,” he told his mom. “I’ve been so busy lately, what with the cheerleading and planning for the date. It’ll be nice to actually have some time to relax for a change.”
“Do you want to play with my dollies?” Mikelle piped up hopefully. Jonatha laughed.
“Yeah, sure. Why not?”
“Yay!” Mikelle got up excitedly and took Jonatha’s hand and led him up to his room.
“I was planning on hanging out with the guys,” Zoe said as she took another sip of her drink.
Nicole slept in. It was around midday by the time she finally got up and even then, she just lazed around the house. She didn’t have any plans until that evening when they were going to the hockey game.
This is great, Nicole reflected. Before, she would have gotten up and done her makeup and made sure that she looked presentable, and now, she didn’t have to worry about any of that stuff. When she headed down for a late breakfast/early lunch, she checked her phone and saw that she had a text from Jonatha.
I had a great time last night, the text read. Nicole smiled and replied that she did too. After grabbing something to eat, Nicole plopped herself on the sofa and turned on SportsCenter. She wanted to catch up with the latest news in sports.
She frowned as she saw one headline; it seemed that the Colorado Avalanche were experiencing some sort of health issue.
“I hope that it doesn’t affect the game tonight.” Nicole thought to herself. She was really looking forward to the game.
She decided to text one of her friends, Shan Jackson.
Hey, have you heard what’s going on with the Avs?
Yeah, I’m not sure what it is exactly, but I hope that it doesn’t affect the game tonight.
Me too, Nicole replied. She put her phone down and sighed. The Avalanche could be such boys sometimes.
Jade couldn’t sleep. He was so excited about tonight's date that he had spent all night planning what he was going to wear. He knew that he liked Ash, so he wanted to impress her, and so he found himself mentally going through his wardrobe trying to pick out the right outfit. Maybe he needed to go to the mall to get a new one even though he just had done so a few days ago?
Once he had got up, he took a shower and, after putting on a pink silk bathrobe, he decided to head down for breakfast.
Fortunately for Jade, his brother Crystal was still at the table enjoying a bowl of grapefruit.
“Morning, Jade.” His brother greeted him with a smile.”
“Morning.” Jade replied as he helped himself to his breakfast. Jade instinctively crossed his legs at the knee as he sat down. “Listen, Crystal. I could use your help.”
“Sure, what's up?”
“I’ve got a date tonight with a really handsome girl and I just can’t decide on what to wear.”
“Who’s the lucky girl?”
“Her name’s Ash. She’s on the basketball team.”
“Ooooh,” Crystal cooed dreamily. “An athlete. You’re really moving up in the world, Jade.”
“Yeahhhh,” Jade replied in the same tone, imagining Ash wearing a handsome suit and offering him a bunch of flowers. He shook his head. “So, would you mind helping me out?"
“Of course not. We can have a little fashion show.”
They finished their breakfasts and then headed upstairs to Jade’s room.
Hey Nessa, fancy hanging out today? Buffie texted his friend as he ate his breakfast.
Um, sure. Let me check with my parents. Buffie nodded as he waited. He knew how strict Nessa’s parents were, but he was lucky that he got on so well with them. A few moments later, Nessa replied back saying that he was fine to hang out.
So what did you want to do?
Well, I’ve got some homework that I’m struggling with. Buffie replied. Do you want to come over and help me out with it? We can figure out what to do afterwards.
Sure.
Buffie smiled. As much as he liked hanging out with Jonatha and his friends recently, it was nice to have a bit of alone time with just Nessa. After all, Nessa was his best friend, and they often did everything together. Buffie’s mom often joked that the two were joined at the hip.
Buffie finished his breakfast and headed upstairs to get dressed. Seeing as it was going to be a casual day, Buffie didn’t need to put on anything fancy, but being the fashion-minded person that he was, he couldn’t just throw any old top on. That wouldn’t do at all.
He eventually settled on a pink tank top and a pair of short denim jeans. He hung his hair low and in curls and set work on his makeup.
Just as Buffie finished up, the doorbell rang.
