David was left alone for a while, after the talk from her mother. She slept.. dreamlessly, and woke up quite early, knowing she had to get ready for school in a few hours. She felt refreshed and couldn't really sleep... the same question echoed in every fibre of her being.
"What kind of girl do I want to be?"
It was a pretty awkward question, but it was one that really hit home. She couldn't be a boy any more... well, not physically anyway. She was defined as much by her biology or as little as she might desire. Though outwardly... this was what she was. She guessed she could hold on to her old life but... this was her life. It is what happened. This was certainly not the end of the world either. It wasn't as if she was facing anything dire... she was just facing life as a girl. Other people did that... why not her? Was she that fixated on being a boy that she couldn't see the point her mother was making?
Her mother always knew what to say to her and this was a deeper question then even David had thought. She didn't want to be a complainer, neither did she want to be a 'victim'... She thought she was a pretty funny boy before, could she be a funny girl? How.. would that even work socially?
Then she thought of the girls in the school. She had never really thought about it, but there were so many different kinds of girls. How many different kind of boys were there? Her friend Matt once theorised there were three different kinds of guys. Jocks, Nerds, and 'average'. David always thought of himself on the average part of that scale, when she had been a boy. But girls? Their social circles were just... a labyrinth. But this was a chance to become something maybe... a little more then average? Certainly she didn't want to be less then average.
"Fine," she said out loud and to nobody in particular. It wasn't resigned exactly but... it was an acceptance. Her mother was right... this is her life now. She could make it her life, make it work for her. She had that right! She could be 'okay' with this. She didn't have to mope around and whine... she wanted to be strong, as strong as Jon was- who had things far, far worse.
She looked over the clothes and in particular at the leotard. It was a pretty inoffensive garment really.. She started trying to slip it on, stepping into it. She was a bit wary when she realised it might snag her tail, but was surprised to find a convenient opening with a Velcro strap to adjust it. She put it on securely, and then had to pull the rest over her torso. It didn't take long to do, and the material was surprisingly comfortable. It felt a little warm, but not bad. It was after all designed to adjust to almost any body form when options were limited. She also noted that the material was keeping her breasts together comfortably. It was... probably not as comfortable as a bra would be, but it did give a lot more support. Maybe... maybe this was a stop-gap solution until she got some better clothes.
She looked over her reflection in the mirror. The rabbit girl looked like she had been through a war zone, her fur was frazzled... still she looked to be getting things together. Wearing something so comfortable had definitely improved her mood too. She licked her hand, and started trying to fix the fur with the wet fingers- until she realised what she was doing. "Oh- urgh!" she winced in conflict. It felt good... normal.. natural.. her mother said to make the best of this situation. After a little experimentation, she started again, feeling the ears until they felt..refreshed. They seemed to perk up a little, waving high above her head.
She sighed, sitting down on her bed. "Maybe... I can wear this, under my other clothes." It did a good job holding her... weird look too, even if right now she looked like some out of this world sex dream, so she feared anyway. That fear made a shudder go through her. That...wasn't the kind of girl she wanted to appear as either. She knew exactly what people will think of her if they saw her like this. She would need those bras eventually.
She tried on the jeans, and a simple top. Hopefully that should help. She looked at one of the hats, but after thinking it over she put it away. She had rabbit ears, and it wasn't very comfortable. "I will make this work," she said to her reflection. Finally, she felt ready to face school. She wasn't going to hide away, if she was a girl she would be... well... not a sad girl, at the very least.
Karyn noted down the address as Jon relayed it. She wondered what was going on between the cat... was Jon 'mewling' at it? Weird... She looked at her friend a little worried as she dropped down onto the grass. "Are you okay Jon?" She asked. She glanced back seeing that the other cat, seemed to have jumped away.
"I just... talked to a cat." Jon said trembling a little in her voice.
"I think that's amazing!" Said Karyn clearly a little jealous. "I wish I could talk to animals. So it.. gave you this address?"
Jon however still had a very serious look as she gazed up at her friend. "Karyn... someone knows about the stone."
Karyn felt herself tensing too. "Someone... someone else?" That shouldn't be possible!
"This could have something to do with my grandfather. Maybe they can help find the stone and I can change everything back. Or they might even know where my grandfather is. I- I have to go there." she said looking at the address. "Can you find out how far this is? I'll skip school if I have to." This was... important.
Karyn seeing Jon so agitated though tried to calm her down. "Wait- think about this for a minute. What if this is some kind of trap?"
Jon stopped at that. "A trap?"
"Come on- some magic cat tells you an address, knows a secret they can't possibly know... and you're going to just walk in?"
Jon frowned a bit. "The cat... didn't lie. I don't think they have a concept for it." When she thought about it, she realised how difficult it would have been to actually 'lie' in... however they were communicating.
"I find that really hard to believe," frowned Karyn. "Cat's look sneaky to me- when they want to be. I had a pet cat, it knew how to get food off me."
"I know they can be sneaky. But... I honestly don't think cats can lie. She just... passed on a message."
"Maybe a human is lying to the cat," suggested Karyn.
"That's... not impossible, but he seemed to respect his human-"
"His human?"
"Uh... yeah." Jon said sideways. "I... guess?"
Karyn sighed. This was getting stranger every minute. "Let me go with you, at least. I don't want you doing this on your own."
Jon nodded. "I'd.. like that."
