It was almost more than Jon could stand. Turning into this tiny little pixie-girl was bad enough, but now she was all pink-themed, too? It was like the universe was trying to pick on her. And this glowing thing...well, that wasn't quite the right term for it. Jon herself wasn't glowing, but she was giving off some kind of shimmery, luminescent pink particle haze, like girly dandruff or someth-oh God. It was pixie dust, wasn't it? She smacked her forehead in dismay. "Real funny, universe," she muttered to herself.

Hoping to turn her thoughts from the fact that now, in addition to being an attractive teenage girl, she couldn't not look feminine, Jon flitted over to the fridge and pulled it open in search of something to eat. She settled on some mixed fruit; she'd been eating a lot of that lately, in order to keep up with the energy demands of flight. Grabbing the container, she flew over to the table, where Mikey was figuring out how to remove the foil top from her yogurt with her talons. It was interesting to watch, and Jon was surprised by how talented her little sister had gotten with them.

As Mikey peeled off the remaining loose shreds of foil, Zoe walked back in, looking at least somewhat less traumatized. She went to the fridge to look for some actual juice, then turned to her sisters. "Wait a minute," she said. "If Mom's a vampire, why aren't we? Or at least, wouldn't that make us half-vampires? I mean, I was out of range when this all happened, but you two weren't."

"Right, you don't know," Mikey said. "If one of the parents is human, then the child is born human. That's why the earth - well, the other Earth, to you guys - wasn't completely overrun by mythics."

"Isn't that only half of it?" Jon said. "I was reading about this in the school library the other day, and it sounded like that only applied to species with fully mammalian reproductive systems. Like, if the mom lays eggs-" She paused, noticing how Mikey cringed at the mention - "uh, if the mom's oviparous, then the children will come out as her species, right?"

"Uh, I think so," Mikey said. "That's what the kids at school always said, anyway. So, like, if Zoe's friend ever has kids, they're to be snake-people too."

Zoe chuckled. "Athena with kids? There's a picture."

Jon laughed. "Hey, you never know. Remember how Aunt Casey always used to talk about not wanting kids, and then as soon as she got married she was trying to have a baby?"

Zoe smiled at the memory. "Hah, yeah. I suppose you never can tell."

Jon's ride to school was pretty much uneventful; she and Karyn sat towards the back of the bus, talking, as they always did, about a bunch of different things. As much as Jon regretted losing the stone, it was nice that their friendship had gotten more or less back to normal; while they'd had the stone, it seemed like every conversation they had was about wishes.

They arrived at school, and Karyn rushed ahead to retrieve something from her locker. Jon had just started to follow when she saw Carrie Logan walking towards her. Jon couldn't help staring; the bunny-girl's movements were so graceful and so convincingly feminine that Jon could barely believe that she had used to be a boy. Carrie smiled, the tips of her somewhat floppy ears perking up as she did. "Hey," she said. "Given any thought to my offer?"

Jon shrugged. "I-I dunno," she said. "It's nice of you to think I can help, but I really barely have anything figured out, myself, let alone have any idea how any of this works."

Carrie nodded. "I can understand that," she said. "I'll tell you what. Why don't you come sit in on one of our meetings after school? You don't have to participate, you can just try and get a feel for what goes on."

"Uh..." Jon stammered. Carrie really seemed to want her to get in on this; it was kind of unnerving, but she obviously meant well... "Uh, okay," she said, only half-aware she had said it. Carrie grinned. "Great!" she said. "See you there!"

As Carrie walked away with the peculiar half-skip she used when she was particularily happy, Jon flew off after Karyn. She stopped when she noticed that she was approaching the only other pixie in the school. Obviously, it had to be Sarah, but now he was emitting a powder-blue glow, with hair to match.
