Jon sat and the lunch table with Karyn, thinking. It was obvious that, at present, Sarah wasn't going to raise any kind of fuss about the treatment he was getting from Farber and company. And it was also obvious that they weren't going to stop hounding him any time soon; if they were just looking for a reaction they'd have stopped by now. This was a bad combination; who knew what it might lead to? And what should she do about it?
What Jon would have liked to do would be to let Sarah solve his own problems. After all, none of this was really her business, and it probably wasn't really appropriate for her to just butt in against Sarah's will. And maybe, given enough time, Sarah would learn to stand up for himself. That was Karyn's opinion, anyway, but after this long, Jon wasn't so sure. Even if he did finally pull himself together, what if something happened before that?
That was the main thing. Jon doubted that the jocks would actually try to seriously injure Sarah, but then, they might get carried away in whatever they were trying for. And although pixies were pretty resilient for being six inches tall, it probably would be easy for them to inflict more harm than they meant, which was already too much. Jon couldn't believe she was considering sticking her neck out for Sarah, of all people, but she'd rather take a little risk herself than find out she could have prevented a tragedy but didn't.
"Hello!" the cat-girl across the table said. "Earth to Jon! What are you so focused on?"
"Uh, nothing," Jon said, snapping back to reality. "Sorry, what were we talking about, again?" This would have to wait until later, but it was high time she let the administration know what was going on.
