'How to walk in heels' was not something Jon thought he would ever search on the internet, but here he was. He already searched tens of different websites, but he was sad to see he couldn't use most advice he found. Wearing heels at home seemed impossible for now as they seemed to be stuck as slippers. Any work on the shoes was also impossible as it would be undone the moment they transformed into something else. And he simply ignored anything to do with choosing the right shoes, for obvious reasons.

In the end, he only got a few useful tips about his posture and how to walk in heels, though he cringed every time he read an advice to make him look sexy.

"Why won't you change into heels already?!" He asked his shoes frustratingly. He thought it might recognize the situation as 'practicing walking on heels' and change appropriately, but it didn't transform from his pink slippers since he got inside the house hours earlier. He had spent some time playing some games barefoot with Karyn, almost forgetting his problems, until he knew he couldn't ignore them anymore.

It was now a little over 7 pm. Jon had gotten what he could from the internet, but he could only get so far without practice.

With a sigh, he resigned himself. If he couldn't wear heels inside his house, he would have to go outside...

He took his phone, that he couldn't leave behind thanks to Sarah, and tried to leave without being spotted by his family. Sarah didn't tell him if they'd think his girly shoes were normal or not, and he didn't want to know, not yet. It was irrational, and he knew it, but he feared the way they would look at him.

He just opened the front door when he heard his mom. "Jon? Where are you going?" She asked from the kitchen.

"I'm just... going for a walk." Jon answered after some hesitation.

His mother got out of the kitchen to look at him, but didn't seem to notice his shoes. "A walk?" She asked suspiciously.

"Yes..." Jon said with uncertainty. His mother seemed to always now whenever he or his sister lied to her. What he said technically wasn't a lie, but would that be sufficient to escape his mother's lie detector.

She stared at him suspiciously a few seconds, and finally declared her verdict: "Alright, but don't take too long. Dinner will be ready in half an hour." She gave him one last look and finally went back to the kitchen.

Jon relaxed. Half an hour was better than none at all, and he wasn't sure his feet could take much more anyway.

He went outside and closed the door behind him. He looked at his feet expectantly, and sure enough, they began changing into a pair of black ankle-strap heels. The heels felt like it was a little lower than earlier too, not that Jon was complaining. It was the tamest shoes he had gotten until now, and he hoped it would continue that way.

He tried taking a few steps, applying what he learnt from the internet. He stood straight taking small step along an imaginary line. Walking like that didn't feel natural at all, but Jon had to admit it was easier to walk like that.

While he practiced what he learned, he thought back to his mother. She didn't look socked by his shoes, so maybe her mind had been changed. She could also simply not have noticed, but Jon couldn't believe anyone could miss something so garishly pink. In anyway, she hadn't treated him any differently, and that brought a small smile on his face.

It didn't stay long however, as he made a wrong move while distracted. He felt his foot bend to the side, making him fall on the sidewalk. His ankle felt a little painful, but he didn't think it was sprained. He stayed here a little massaging it a little, and soon the pain faded a little.

He got up into his heels and took a tentative step. He felt a little pain but nothing too bad. He contemplated going back home, but eventually decided to continue practicing. He would have to walk on heels all day tomorrow, he needed to get better before that, even a little.

"I'll never make fun of girls in heels ever again." He thought as he continued walking, staying focused on it this time. He could tell tomorrow would be a very long day...
