Wallace stayed close, but not so close as to be noticed. The car he was following drove into town and stopped at a duplex.
"Okay, what now?" Janice asked.
"We go talk to him," Wallace said.
"I really don't think this is a good idea."
"I'm taking the stone with me, if that makes you feel any better."
"Actually, it makes me feel worse. That thing is dangerous."
"Listen, Janice. I have to do this. I ..."
At that moment, the roof of the duplex got ripped apart and tossed across the street, as if there were a powerful gust of wind. Wallace and his wife stared at the destruction with wide eyes.
"Do you think it's a good idea now?" she asked.
Doug walked to the edge of a small drop-off, and stood there holding the stone. He closed his eyes and jumped, falling fifteen feet. Normally, that kind of jump would hurt him, but he didn't have a scratch on him. And he felt no pain either.
It was amazing. He really was invincible.
Rachel and Ashley ran out of the mall and straight into a perimeter of police cars. They had the mall surrounded and were about to raid it. But, as it turned out, they didn't need to, because Hart was coming out.
The two girls stayed behind the police cars and watched as Hart walked out of the mall, gun still in hand.
"Drop your weapon!" one of the cops yelled. And when he didn't, the cop said "Drop it or we'll fire!"
"Fucking cops," Hart said, then fired off his gun, killing two cops instantly. That's when the firefight began. And Rachel and Ashley didn't stick around to see who the victor was.
