Jon sat down on the floor. "I wish I knew why that guy was after me." The stone flashed and suddenly Jon knew. His name was Bryan Hart (he went by his last name) and he was a stone hunter. This was a revelation for Jon. He had no idea that there were actually other stones. They were all, of course, less powerful than the wishing stone, but they were still magic, and therefore dangerous, if in the wrong hands. And this Hart guy was definitely the wrong hands.
He tried to take the wishing stone from Jon and his grandfather, before he died. And now he was after the other stones, one of which was possessed by someone in his very own town, a girl named Rachel.
After Jon told Karyn all of this, she said "We have to go back and help them. This guy is a real psycho. From what you told me, I get the feeling he'd actually kill to get the stones."
"I agree. But what if we make things worse by going back? At least here, we're safe from him."
"But those other people aren't," Karyn said.
Jon thought it over. "Fine. I wish me and Karyn would go back to my house." But the stone didn't glow.
"What's wrong?" Karyn asked.
"I don't know. I wish I knew why my last wish didn't work." The stone glowed and Jon got his answer. "It contradicts the wish that sent us here."
"Then how are we gonna get back?" Karyn asked, starting to panic.
Jon didn't know. For the time being, they were stuck there.
