Rachel wondered if she should tell her friends about the stone. Sure, she trusted them, but with something this powerful, she really didn't trust anyone but herself.
"Put the gun down," she heard a man say. She turned around and saw a security guard pointing his gun at a man at the entrance to the mall. The man was holding a shotgun in his hands. Before Rachel could even think about what was happening, the man with the shotgun fired at the guard, sending his body flailing backwards and through a storefront window. Shards of glass flew everywhere.
People ran back and forth in a mad panic. But the man kept walking forward, towards the food court, shoving people who got in his way.
"Rachel, let's get out of here," Ashley said, pulling her. This time she had a reason to be scared.
Rachel used her new stone power to make Ashley content and suddenly she calmed down, as if a man with a gun didn't bother her. Rachel's other two friends were long gone by then.
It took her a moment to figure out that the man was walking towards her, but Rachel still had enough time to act.
"Give me the stone, bitch," the man said.
How does he know about it? she thought. Then she used the power of the stone again, sending emotions of sadness to the man. Suddenly, he collapsed to the floor, sobbing.
"Come on," Rachel said, pulling Ashley with her.
