Sitting around the campfire, Doug gazed at the stone he had found. The green texture of the stone was very eerie, it was like nothing he had ever seen before.
"Would you stop staring at that thing?" Kevin said. "You're giving me the creeps."
"Sorry. It's just ... I don't know ... mesmerizing?" The light from the campfire seemed to dance across the surface of the green stone.
"Just get something to eat, okay?" Kevin said.
Not really paying attention to what he was doing, Doug reached over for his food.
"Doug! Watch what you're doing!"
Breaking out of his gaze, Doug saw that he had accidentally stuck his hand in the campfire and his arm was on fire. After Kevin quickly grabbed a towel and smothered the fire out, he stared at Doug's arm. He had no burns.
"How is that possible?" Kevin asked.
Doug looked down at the green stone. Somehow, he knew that it was the stone that cured him. He dropped the stone on the ground and hesitantly stuck his hand over the campfire.
"What are you doing?" Kevin asked.
The pain was instantaneous, causing Doug to pull back his hand at once. He had a small burn on two of his fingers. He grabbed the stone and suddenly the burns disappeared.
He looked at Kevin and smiled. "Do you know what this means? As long as I hold this stone, I can't get hurt."
"That can't be," Kevin said.
"You were right. This will make me rich."
