Sarah didn't hesitate very long before making up her mind. She didn't mind having someone other than her and Jon remembers who he was, it could even be fun. And more importantly, she could get something out of it too.
"Alright, I might do that, but I have some conditions on my own." Sarah decided. "You're okay with that?"
"Yes." Answered Jon without hesitation. As long as he could get Karyn to keep her memory of this reality, he was willing to do whatever she wanted.
Meanwhile, Karyn watched silently from the sideline. She wanted to tell him not to do that for her, but she knew it was for him as well, so she said nothing.
"Alright, first, give me your number. And properly this time!" Sarah said while getting her phone out.
"Sure!" Jon had expected something like that after this morning. "anything else?"
"Just one." She said with a smirk after registering his number. "You have to take the first option on the next choice." Then, after seeing his expression, she added. "Don't worry, it won't change anyone's mind."
"What's the choice?" Jon just said suspiciously.
"It's only something to ensure I can talk to you whenever I need to. Nothing too bad..." She reassured him, but added in her head "Yet."
Jon hesitated a moment, thinking about the telepathy option from this morning, but a quick look at Karyn made up his mind. "Alright, give me my choices."
"Good, it will be quite long, I don't want you to find another loophole like this morning." She said, grinning like she won the lottery. "Either you always answer me whenever I call you and stay on the phone until I hang up or tell you you can hang up. Or you have to spend at least 20 minutes with me everyday starting tomorrow." The first one was by far the most convenient for her as she wasn't dependent on Jon as to when she could talk to him. She also didn't want to be seen too much with him. She still had a reputation and couldn't spend too much time with a nerd every day.
Jon was having pretty similar thoughts, he could see why she didn't want the second. He too didn't want to be seen with her 20 minutes every day, including weekends. What confused him, though, was the absence of a choice about telepathy. "Alright, I take option 1, like you said."
Immediately after saying that, he could feel a small shiver go through his body, though nothing appeared to have changed. "Good," Said Sarah, still grinning. Jon thought it was beginning to be kind of creepy "Now let's see if it works." She took her phone and called Jon.
His phone stayed silent as it was set to be while he was at school, but he could feel his hand immediately go for it. He didn't have control over his arm as he accepted the call and placed his phone on his ear. He was really weirded out by the feeling and a little scared. He had thought he knew what he got into, but that made him really take conscience of what was going to happen to him. Not only could Sarah change him physically, she could also control his actions.
"Hi Jon! I'm just calling you to tell you you can't hang up" Mocked Sarah on the phone. And indeed, try as he might, he couldn't remove his phone from his ear.
As Jon was too shocked to answer, Karyn intervened. "You already proved your point! Can you stop now?"
Sarah was quite enjoying the situation. She always liked being in control, but it was the first time she had that much over someone, and she knew it was only the beginning. She pretended to hesitate to draw out the situation, and eventually, she slowly lowered her finger toward the screen on her phone. "Aaaaaaaand..." she said, dragging out the word as much as she could. "Hang up!" She finally stopped the call as Karyn was coming toward her.
That time let Jon regain his bearing. He could finally move his hand away from his ear and quickly pocketed his phone back. He mouthed a 'thank you' toward Karyn, who replied with a smile, and got back to Sarah. "Alright. You had you fun, now for your part of the deal."
