A big part of Jon was telling him to get away fast as possible, but he ignored it. If she was giving him a choice, she would probably only be able to do the one he chooses, but there was no telling what it would do if he didn't answer.
He also didn't know how much time he had to answer, so he didn't dare to think for too long. He faced her and quickly and uttered his number as fast as possible before running away, not caring of the stares in his direction. And while he knew it was far from over, he had a small grin on his face. There was no way she would remember the whole number and he got away unscathed as far as he knew. The next one probably wouldn't be that simple, but for now, he was enjoying his victory.
Now, he needed to see Karyn. He didn't tell her anything until now by fear she would be the one with power over him, at least, that's what he told himself. In reality, he was embarrassed by what he'd done and he didn't want to tell her. Right now however, he didn't have any excuses to not tell her, and he didn't want to go through whatever would happen alone.

Sarah would never admit it, but she had been rather impressed by Jon just now. She didn't realize what Jon was doing before half the numbers were already given and was too stunned to memorize the rest, leaving her with nothing once Jon got away. She had been trying to get him to go away without answering, like he had done before when she insisted on something he didn't want to do. And it almost worked too, he just began going away too soon, before she could give him a choice.
She had to concede that she had lost the first round, but she had gained an important information she didn't have before. Jon knew about her power.
It wasn't that surprising, she had got all the informations about her power directly in her head, there was no reason Jon wouldn't have gotten some too. However, she didn't think he had a power, at least not over her. Even once it was obvious she was trying to use hers on him, he didn't make any attempt to do anything to her. He also didn't seem to have the same compulsion to change her as her.
"Well, at least I don't have to be subtle anymore." She muttered under her breath on the way to her class. She had wanted to give him some choices that would make it easier to change him later while he didn't know what was up, but that would be way harder now. She decided she would first need to secure a way to communicate with him, the rest would come later. She would also need to be more specific when giving choice, so Jon didn't find any other loopholes.
She realized she was strangely calm about it. She would have thought she'd be angry at wasting one of her choices like that, but she was barely even annoyed. Instead, she felt amused, like a predator watching a prey struggle against an unavoidable fate.
She smiled a little, even more determined to change Jon. She still wasn't sure of what she would change him into, but she was certain it would be fun.
