Jon's grandfather would never have sent such a powerful item as the stone to someone as untrustworthy as his two Goth grandchildren. So, in this new reality, he instead sent the wishing stone to his grandson Mikey, who (thanks to Jon's wish to make himself five years older) was now 14 years old instead of 9, just like Zoe was now 16 years old instead of 11.
He was still in middle school, but was going to move up to high school in the upcoming fall. So he was really only a few years younger than Jon used to be, before his wish.
He took the stone out of its box and looked at it. He had already tried it out and discovered that his grandpa was telling the truth. It really was a wishing stone. But he had spent the last few days putting together a list of things to wish for. And now he was ready.
