Jon reached back into the pouch and pulled out the orange colored ring that said "Naivety" on it. He briefly thought that naivety was one of those words that looked spelled wrong even when you knew it was right, and wondered if that was a coincidence. He had a pretty good idea of what this ring would do, but looked around for a target anyway. Off to one side of the classroom he spotted Sharon Miller, a cute red-head who was on student council and the debate team and Model UN. Perfect, he thought as the orange ring slid onto his finger.

Sharon looked over the submitted argument about trade agreements in Central America and sighed. Sure it was only a club and not real politics, but some of her classmates just didn't take it seriously. She paused to rub her temples and looked back over the paper so she could once again make corrections to make sure her team came out on top.

"Huh," she muttered to herself after the first paragraph. Maybe this didn't need corrections. The argument was simplistic and one-dimensional, but very convincing. By the time she was half-way through paper she was in complete agreement, the poor grammar near the end only served to bring the point home. She was so engrossed in this amazing treatise that she barely noticed someone approach her and sit down in an adjacent desk.

She looked up to see Jon Gibson. Sharon barely knew him and never bothered to keep track since he did not belong to any of her many clubs, but here he was looking at her with an interested smile. "What is it?" she asked a little brusquely.

"You just looked worried and I wanted to see if I could help," he answered with confidence.

Sharon puzzeled at that. She wasn't worried. But then why would he have come over unless she looked worried? So she must be worried, but what about? Now at least she knew she was worried about what she was previously worried about, but that hardly helped. Maybe Jon could help, her convoluted train of thought concluded.

"Could you help? I'm actually not sure what I was worried about, but it must be something big if you spotted it from across the room."

"Of course I can help, I'm a very helpful and noble guy...and handsome to boot," Jon said with a smile.

Sharon beamed at him, blushing slightly so her cheeks turned pinkish around her dusting of freckles. She mentally chastised herself for thinking that Jon was a slacker in the past. Of course he did not have time for after school activities, he was probably too busy being helpful to others. What a noble guy he was, though she did not really find him attractive. After a second of thinking about it though she considered that all his good deeds and nobleness were attractive qualities so he must be attractive himself. She blushed a little deeper, he really was kind of cute.

"You were worried that you aren't taken seriously," Jon continued. "It's really common among young women, and it's probably why you join so many serious sounding clubs."

Sharon nodded dumbly, of course she wanted to be taken seriously.

"But you're going about it the wrong way," Jon said while he patted her arm reassuringly.

The worry flooded back through Sharon. "What can I do?" she pleaded in a whisper.

Jon smiled and told her...
