Jon's next class was a study hall. He generally went to the library during a study hall so he could actually study or read and not be pestered by a class full of kids goofing off. Today he thought he'd stay in the classroom and do some studying of the rings.
He took a seat near the edge of the classroom and looked around. Mr. Green, a slightly pudgy teacher sat at the front of the room and ticked off names of students as they entered or left for the library or computer lab. A small group of preppy kids occupied one corner of the room and started talking, the girls about fashion, the guys about the upcoming school football game. A couple kids sat in another corner. Jon did not know them well enough to truly lable them, but skate punk or possibly stoner could fit. One of them put his head down for a nap and the other put ear-buds in to listen to music. The other students were scattered about the classroom, a few talking but most just working on their own projects.
Jon opened a notebook and started writing and organizing what he knew about the rings already:
-They seemed to effect a specific target first, though with enough time the effect spreads and can cover a whole room.
-The emotions of two different rings can combine.
-The emotion seemed focused on him. Back in the class everyone was acting slutty and subservient to him specifically, and it was the same with Sarah back in the hall.
-After the ring is removed people don't remember doing anything odd, and possibly the don't remember anything under the ring's effect.
-The Role Reversal ring actually caused a change, exchanging him for the teacher. He did not gain the teacher's memories, but had her attitude and confidence in front of the class, while she was squirming in her desk. Maybe that was why the Yin-Yang colored ring was by itself in the box?
Looking around the class he wondered what else he could learn about them. He selected a target and pulled out a ring...
