As the ring fit around Jon's finger he felt felt an odd wave of dizziness and blinked.
When he opened his eyes he was standing in front of the class looking down at Mrs. Avery. Instead of her dressy skirt and blouse she now wore denim capri pants and a pink baby-doll t-shirt. She looked concerned and a bit lost. Jon looked down at his finger and saw the Yin-Yang colored ring on his finger. So that's what the Role Reversal ring does, he thought briefly.
"Miss Avery, do you know the answer or don't you?" Jon asked, trying to sound stern. Actually it was not hard to 'sound' stern, he felt stern. He felt in charge of this room, despite the shit the little snots sometimes gave him.
"Um...I, that is, uh," the 30-something woman stammered. "No, Mr. Gibson," She finished, not able to look him in the eye.
"I thought not, I expect you'll do the reading for next class so you will be better prepared," Jon said coolly. He now knew the answer to her question, but she apparently did not. Unfortunately he did not know any of the other material to teach the class and there were still more than ten minutes left.
Instead of following his first instinct to dismiss class early, Jon decided to push things and lecture them on the literary structure of comic books. As he talked about the flow between panels and use of different word balloons and fonts he noticed a few things. First his clothes had changed again. Just before class he used the stone to wish up some normal school clothes, but now he was wearing khaki slacks and button up shirt. He looked mostly professional, but a bit relaxed.
Jon also noticed Mrs. Avery, along with a few of the other girls, giving him a few appraising looks. He knew he looked at Mrs. Avery that way several times a class...and wondered if she caught the look as easily as he did.
Despite his bizarre change in topic the class remained mostly unfazed. Some students were interested and some were bored. Jon usually did not like being in front of a large group, but he was having fun. He suspected that in the teacher's role he acquired her comfort for public speaking. The bell rang and Jon assigned the class a two page essay on the narrative differences between the Silver and Modern age before slipping off the ring.
He felt the same wave of vertigo and found himself back in his jeans and t-shirt in the process of standing up from his desk. That was fun, he thought on his way to his next class.
