Karyn/Athena looked back down at the device and turned it around in her hands, accidentally pressing the button again. It was pointed at Jon/Zoe.
Jon/Zoe and Jane/Zelda disappeared, but just for a split second. In their places (from Karyn/Athena's point-of-view) stood Jon (Zoe's brother), but he was wearing Zelda's clothes and make-up. He looked so weird with blue-dyed hair. But where did Zoe and her mom go?
"Athena? Where did Zoe go? I thought we were going to the club."
"Zelda?" Karyn/Athena hesitantly asked.
"Yes? What?"
Karyn/Athena almost couldn't believe what she was seeing. Zoe's brother actually believed he was Zelda.
What Karyn/Athena hadn't realized was that it was a "merging effect", much like what the device usually caused. But in this case, Jon/Zoe merged with Jane/Zelda, so now it was technically Jon/Zoe/Jane/Zelda, but more simply Jon/Zelda, as there was Jon's body and Zelda's clothes and mind. However, Zoe and Jane were still there. It's just that their minds were trapped along with Jon's, like they were prisoners. They were forced to think, see, and feel whatever Zelda would. Until the three hours were up.
Jon/Zelda grabbed Karyn/Athena arm and pulled towards the front door.
"Maybe she's at the club already," Jon/Zelda said, pulling Karyn/Athena out the door. "We better catch up."
