What's happening? Karyn/Athena thought. She looked down at the device in her hand. She remembered pressing the red button and then ... Zoe's mom disappeared. Could the device have done that? While she was very familiar with the uses of magic (since she was very much into the occult), she wasn't familiar with technology, although she did use it occasionally. But she was sure that machines couldn't do what she had just seen.
"Come on, Athena," Jane/Zelda said. It was so weird seeing Zoe's mom dressing and acting like her friend Zelda. "I want to get to the club early. I don't want to stand in line."
"Wait a minute," Karyn/Athena said.
Jon/Zoe huffed. "Athena, put that thing away and let's go."
Karyn/Athena looked back down at the device and turned it around in her hands, accidentally pressing the button again. It was pointed at Jon/Zoe.
But what would happen if the device was used on someone that had already been affected?
