The final bell rang and Jon made his way past throngs of students to meet up with Karyn. He found her at the corner, looking impatient.
"You have no idea how much I've been thinking about this. This is gonna be so cool." The two started walking towards Jon's house.
"I hope you're right. It just seems like so much could go wrong."
"You always worry too much, Jon. What's the worst that could happen?"
Jon pointed out Karyn's new breasts and hair. "I'm guessing something worse than that. I mean, this thing alters people's very perceptions of themselves. To not only make one person believe that they are somebody else, but also convince everybody else just seems a bit heavy to me."
"You have a point, but this device resets itself. And we do have the stone that could fix things if the remote stops working."
Before long, they had arrived at Jon's house.
"Okay," Karyn said, "I want to use it on you, then you can use it on me. It'll be like hide and seek, see if we can find out who the other person becomes. Is anybody else here?"
"I don't know. Zoe gets out of school around this time, although I haven't seen her, my dad's at work for a couple more hours, and mom should be home in just a few minutes." The two entered the house. Karyn walked into the living room and Jon began walking to the kitchen. "Do you want anything to dr-" but the sound stopped as Jon disappeared into thin air. Karyn looked down at the remote, having just pressed the button, and watched the timer start counting down from 3 hours. "Now the fun part," Karyn said as she began to look for signs of where Jon might have disappeared to.
