I felt dizzy for a moment, but it quickly passed. I continued down the hall, as my stomach grumbled. I tried remembering what I wanted to say to Sarah. Then it came to me.
"Those are the cutest shoes, Sarah. Where did you, like, get 'em?" Brooke asked, not realizing that she was actually Jon.
"They're from this cute little boutique on Rodeo Drive. Daddy let me buy them online. It's the latest style. Jessica, Paris, all the hottest celebrities have a pair. But don't even think about stealing my look, Brookey."
"I'd never dream of it, babe." Jon said, he then silently pouted, realizing that "her" daddy would never be able to afford a pair of shoes like that. Eventually, the three of them made it to the cafeteria, with the rest of the students. Jon, Vicky, and Sarah all got the same salad from the lunch line (no dressing, of course), and sat next to each other. Vicky began eating, and Jon pulled a compact from Brooke's bag.
"What to you think of my hair, girls?"
"I think it's cute," Vicky said. "That style is so big in Paris right now."
"Yeah. Of course," Sarah said, "you're going to have to, like, grow it out for prom. Prom hair is a big deal, if you know what I mean. So it's either that, or, like extensions or something."
Jon knew what she meant. He was really looking forward to going to prom; getting all dressed up and going with the girls to get their hair, nails, and makeup done.
"Speaking of prom," Jon began again, "I hope Brian wears a nice tux."
"I know what you mean, girl," Sarah said, "Boys never care how they look."
"That's why they need girls like us," Jon said, "To keep them looking presentable." All the girls burst into a fit of giggles at this. Then something caught their attention.
"Is that that Karyn Douglas staring over here?" Vicky asked. The girls looked up across the room to see Karyn, all by herself at a table. She quickly looked away when the girls and Jon noticed her.
"She's probably checking me out," Jon said, running a hand up his bare legs and pulling at the hem of his miniskirt. "That girl is such a dyke."
Karyn looked on as the three of them laughed at something. They were probably making fun of her, but she didn't really care. She was still enthralled by what the remote had done to Jon. And when he came back after the time expired, she'd get all the dirt on Sarah to get even for all the things she did to her. The bell for the next class rang, and she got up to leave, making sure the remote was secure in her bag.
