"Aaaand, that's a wrap! Good job, everyone." The director called out, and the crew behind the camera began to clap. Mikey Duck and Karry Jester took a bow to their coworkers.
"See you later tonight, Mikey." The Jester kissed the duck's beak.
"Eight O'clock, toots." The two then walked off the stage with their arms wrapped around each other. Karry thought everything was right. Work was great, she had a duck-friend, and she was a major celebrity. She still wished, though, that something interesting would happen.
Only in the back portion of her mind did Karry have an idea that something was wrong.
As the stars filtered off stage, the set designers came on and started to deconstruct the set. Several took souvenirs to be kept, or sometimes sold. One of these was Melinda.
Melinda tolerated her job here. She used to be the Magician's assistant to Marty Magicact, who she had a crush on. But the show folded, and she bounced from job to job, never finding the magic she once had. She opened up the box with the 'magic' stone and sighed.
The former Magician's assistant picked up the off orange rock and shrugged. What could it hurt? "I wish . . ."
