"It's Miss Amazing's nemesis! The Queen is here!"
Jon let the girl go, more than a little perplexed. His great nemesis was simply named the Queen? This fight was going to be over so fast it wasn't funny. Jon ducked into a nearby room and slipped on Miss Amazing's mask.
The first changes were physical, and Jon became a tall and leggy young woman, just about Jon's age, actually. It was sometimes hard for Jon to remember that Miss Amazing was basically a female version of him. As such, she was actually still a teen. The costume, which Jon had made a few practical adjustments to, appeared next.
First gone were the high heels from her boots. Miss Amazing couldn't figure out why they were there in the first place. The cape had been removed entirely, as she couldn't figure out a purpose for it if she couldn't fly. She had also just watched The Incredibles. Karyn suggested adding a skirt, and though Jon protested a bit, she ultimately liked the way it flowed and moved. The last addition was a belt, which had a pocket for the Wishing Stone, just in case.
Ready to go, Miss Amazing burst out of the room and tracked down The Queen. The hallways were oddly empty now, all the students having rushed out of the building. Miss Amazing slowly walked through the building, but found no trace of the Queen. She finally made her way to the gym, and gasped.
The gym had been converted into a giant, life-sized chess board. Thirty unlucky students found themselves wearing hats and costumes to denote their rank. Only the two queens were absent from the ensemble.
"You get points for uniqueness, Queen." Miss Amazing yelled, "But you loose on practicality." There was a sound behind her, but Miss Amazing turned too late. A hat was quickly fitted on her head.
"On the contrary, Miss Amazing, I have you right where I want you." She pulled off the superheroine's mask and draped her in a Grecian-style gown.
"Go to your starting position, White Queen." Miss Amazing silently obeyed. Where's Amazing Boy when you need him?
