But only Jon had a wishing stone, and when he made that wish, disguised as a sentence of normal conversation, he immediately learned that Amazing Boy was Karyn.
Jon was stunned for a moment, before he realized that it made a lot of sense. Karyn had been his best friend since they were four years old. Because they hung together so much, it was possible that whatever turned Jon into Miss Amazing, Karyn was right next to him, being affected in the same way.
On one hand, Jon was glad Karyn was his partner: there was no one in the world he would rather save the world with. But he quickly wondered what would happen if Karyn was hurt in battle. How would he react?
As these thoughts and a few others crossed through Jon's mind, he caught sight of Karyn. Did he dare tell her? If he didn't, there was almost no chance she would be hurt. But it still hurt Jon to keep such a big secret from his best friend.
But those thoughts vanished when a shriek reverberated throughout the school. Students began to run toward the exits. Jon and Karyn and a few others who didn't know what was happening only looked on in mixes of horror and confusion.
Jon grabbed a passing girl, "What's going on!" he yelled over the crowd.
"It's Miss Amazing's nemesis! **_ is here!"
