"I wish that I was a girl until tomorrow morning." Breasts grew on Jon's chest, and long hair grew on his head. He felt an emptiness between his legs, and he realized he was wearing a skirt... Of course, this wasn't the first time Jon had been transformed like that.
Pete let out a sigh of relief.
"Now, I wish that this stone was normally green, but it gradually turns yellow and red when it's built up a lot of desire to do sex changes. I wish that once I've released this desire by wishing for a sex change it turns green again." The stone, in Jon's hand, turned bright red.
"Heh, you should have made it pink," said Pete.
"I was thinking of that," said Jon. "But what's between green and pink? Anyway something's wrong. I, uh, I wish this stone would tell me why it's still red."
The stone turned warm in her now-smaller hand and it spoke in her head, like a computer from a movie. "A transformation that lasts less than a day will not affect this stone. Also, you were female before. Successive transformations of the same person too close in time don't count."
"Wait a minute," said Jon. "The stone just told me it didn't do any good at all. I would have expected if I'm a girl for a fraction of a day it would turn a fraction of the way back to green, right?"
"Naah," said Pete. "That'd be too easy. If it worked that way you could just wish that you'd be a girl when you fall asleep and change back to a guy when you wake up. If it has to be at least a day, you can't cheat like that."
"It also said that I can't just keep transforming the same person, either."
"Of course you can't. If you could, you could keep it going forever by finding one person who wants to be a girl and doing an endless series of one day transformations on him. I think your stone wants you to work for it. By the way, would you like to go out with me tonight?"
"You know I'm Jon... why are you even trying?"
"Take it easy, babe," said Pete. "Just wanted to see how you'd respond."
"Well, I still need to make a sex change wish to satisfy the stone, and I can't use myself," said Jon... "So watch it or I'll get you next. Hmm.... I wish..."
