"Because... well... the stone is, how can I put it. I guess 'cursed' is the best word, but it isn't really cursed. It's just how the magic likes to work. The stone doesn't want to go for long without changing someone into a girl."
"What do you mean?" asked Pete.
"It wants to change people into girls! If you don't start turning people into girls on purpose, it eventually tries to twist its wishes to turn people into girls as a side effect. The longer you go without doing it, the worse it gets. Eventually just wishing that someone is clothed turns them into a girl wearing girl's clothes."
"So you mean the stone isn't as all-powerful as you say?"
"No, Pete, it's fine. I just need to turn someone female every week, more or less, and keep them that way for at least a day. It'll also accept something related--like a partial transform, or turning someone into women's clothing. As long as I do that the stone will never twist any wishes."
"Isn't there any alternative?"
"Sort of. If I don't use the stone at all, it doesn't matter that it twists wishes. Then when I start using it again, I can make my first wish be a girl transformation. It'll satisfy the stone. So it can be longer than a week if I don't use the stone at all during that time period."
"But you like using the stone."
"Right, Pete. And I'd better do a girl transform now, so the stone stays normal for the next week." Pete backed away, a bit afraid of Jon's intentions, as Jon said "I wish...."
