Jan sighed and looked back to the book. Of course! The stone was still making its way around the world. Someone must have it, and add pages to the book. Unfortunately, the text remained stubbornly static.
Jan sighed. Maybe she would have to wait for someone to make a wish.
Karyn lounged in her lamp, sprawled across a gigantic pillow of gold thread. Her eyes were closed and she thought through her possible options. With the stone gone and Jon temporarily a librarian, she knew her chances of freeing herself became infinitesimally small. So that left her with the problem of the stone itself. It was loose to the world once again, and likely still in the school itself. The only person the Genie had any contact with was her master, Sarah. And Genie had no doubt she could convince Sarah to get the stone.
Sarah walked to her gym locker with more method and purpose than she ever had. Each step to her locker was one step closer to freedom, as she saw it. She undid her lock and pulled the blue and orange outfit from her locker and walked back to the gym, where her teammates were warming up for practice. Sarah pulled out her bronze lamp, gave it a rub, releasing her slave from the lamp.
Genie materialized before Sarah and bowed graciously, "What is your wish, Master?"
"Genie, I wish that my mother was right here." Genie waved her hands above here head, and Mrs. McMillian appeared in a storm of gold dust. She looked around, bewildered.
"Sarah? What happened?" She looked to the genie clad it white, "And who are you?"
"Ma'am, I am Karyn, Genie of the lamp and servant to your daughter." The Genie bowed.
"Everybody," Sarah called out, and the cheerleaders stopped their movement and looked to their team captain, "I'd like to announce that as of right now, I am quitting the cheerleading squad." The girls' eyes widened in horror, and Sarah turned triumphantly to her mother.
"Sarah Ann McMillian, what do you think you are doing? Do you know how much money I've spent on your cheerleading camps and uniforms? How much time I sacrificed for you? Young lady, you will be a cheerleader until I tell you that you're done."
Sarah remained completely unfazed, "Genie, I wish that for the next minute, my mother would be turned into a cheerleading trophy."
"As you command, my Master." Genie gestured, and a small six inch tall statue stood where Mrs. McMillian had.
The former cheerleader picked up her mother and looked the golden cheerleader in the eye, "I'll be doing what I want from now on."
Jan was getting a little bored watching the last page of the book not change, and had given up to help a few students find their books. When she returned, however, she was shocked to find a paragraph had been added to the book. She was horrified to find that the person who had the rock was none other than . . .
