Jan thumbed through the magical account of the stone's last master. She saw pictures of her former self and read about how she had been changed from Jon the high school student into Jan the librarian. It was all too much. And yet, it seemed right somehow. She stared at her dim reflection in a nearby computer monitor and for the first time, it seemed like a stranger:
God. She was old! This was so weird. Her personality clearly had been altered significatly as well. The old Jon might have passed out from shock, but Jan was a tough old bird. Her hand absently ran through her frumpy rat's nest of a hairdo as her eyes drifted to a industrial poster that said "Become a Librarian!" She let out a weary middle-aged laugh.
It was time to confront Sarah, but she had to be smart about it. Through a crack in the books on a nearby shelf, she watched as Sarah made her way out of the library. She almost collided with a nearby meathead jock who was on his way in. Sarah shoved him and said, "Idiot. I wish you'd just get lost!"
The handsome blonde boy in a letterman jacket fell back against the wall. His light hair flaired out from his scalp and became a mousey brown frizzy mess. Thick glasses materialized on his smaller nose. His clothes became decidely more sensible including a knee-length skirt and cotton blouse. Where there once was an alpha male was now a gangly, shy, nerdy girl--exactly the type to get lost in a library.
Jan sighed. These wishes were getting out of hand and she knew she needed to do something, but what!?
