If Jon really thought about it, most of the things Karyn was freaking out about were fairly superficial. She clearly still had her natural intellect, so she could get her grades improved in no time. And while she may have loathed the idea of being a cheerleader, Jon knew that not all the cheerleaders at their high school were shallow stereotypes, just Sarah and a select few of her groupies.
Really the only unexpected change that bothered Jon was that Karyn was dating Steve Faber. For a long time now, Jon had been having strange feelings for Karyn for a long time now. He'd been reluctant to act on them though, not wanting to ruin their friendship.
But now, the idea of Karyn being with someone else, let alone that jerk Steve, put Jon on edge. He now knew that he wanted to be Karyn's boyfriend. Maybe if he wished for Karyn to be his girlfriend, that would undo some of the negative effects of her wishes?
"I wish Karyn was my loving girlfriend," Jon said, feeling the rock grow hot in his hand.
